Music, Minor
Saint Louis University's minor in music allows students to continue their study of music while pursuing other academic interests. SLU's music minor is complementary to and compatible with most majors.
Some students choose this minor because music has an indirect connection to their chosen career path. Other students enjoy increasing their theoretical and historical knowledge while performing with other students in the music program.Â
Program Highlights
- Small classes in courses required for SLU's music minor ensure that students work closely with the full-time faculty and receive individualized attention.Â
- The music faculty at Saint Louis University include active performers, composers and scholars who are engaged in the St. Louis area. Members of SLU's music faculty perform with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra as well as other venues and work in various styles, from classical art music to jazz and musical theatre.Â
- An audition is not required to declare the music minor. However, prospective students are expected to have some previous experience studying and performing music before entering the music program.
