Since 9/19, she has been the sole administrative assistant. She is professional, reliable and effective. She is super-prompt and thorough. She is mature and wise beyond her years. Always kind, caring and considerate. She handles complex situation with tact and grace, by promptly taking action or deferring to the appropriate authority, as necessary. Faculty remarked that it has always been a pleasure to work with Lisa. She is very cordial and amiable, and faculty miss interacting with her during these times of social distancing. Faculty also remarked that Lisa is very efficient and always helpful. She is also pro-active, anticipating needs to ensure that the entire department functions smoothly. Lisa did an amazing job creating the Newsweek letter for Graduation 2020 in a very short amount of time. She has many talents, including graphic design. Her work on designing flyers and advertising materials, which is a very successful way of conveying useful information for students. has always been remarkable. She always exceeds expectations, often anticipating the chair’s, associate chair’s and faculty’s needs.”
Lisa Puetz, Administrative Assistant of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, said, “I think that what we do as department Administrative Assistants goes far beyond a defined set of responsibilities. My job is to support my department holistically, and also to be actively on the lookout for ways that I can improve how the department runs administratively, whether that’s through establishing or streamlining procedures, and especially making use of the technological resources we have available to us. Cutting down on administrative confusion allows faculty to spend more energy living out SLU’s mission through their teaching and research. I feel really fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to what our fantastic faculty members do, expanding students’ perspectives and preparing them to be people for others, on a global scale.
I’m originally from St. Louis and returned here after receiving my BA in Psychology from Bellarmine University in 2017. As a student, I interned at a refugee resettlement organization in Louisville, which deepened my appreciation for multilingualism and language learning before finding my job here. I now reside in Dogtown, which makes it easy to go for runs in my happy place, Forest Park. In my free time, I love tapping into my creative side especially in the areas of digital design and illustration. I travel when I can, but I also enjoy exploring the rich arts and food scenes we have right here in our own city. The pandemic has meant trying to make my own kitchen a “food scene,” for better or for worse. “🙂
