Accounting, M.Acc. and Law, J.D. Dual Degree

The聽Juris Doctor and Master of Accounting dual degree offered through聽Saint Louis University School of Law and the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business聽puts students at a substantial advantage over the competition in the job market.

An attorney with an accounting degree has distinct analytical training and an in-depth perspective of each field, equipping them with a comprehensive approach that helps their clients avoid blind spots when problem-solving and serves as a tremendous asset to any company.聽An accounting degree adds value in any legal practice, particularly corporate law, securities law, tax law and policy and estate law and planning.

The dual-degree program at SLU enables students to complete both degrees in significantly less time and expense than obtaining the degrees separately. Eighteen credit hours are cross-applied, bringing the total number of required credit hours from 121 to 103. Students can learn from renowned professors in both schools and tap into each school's respective alumni network while receiving distinctive training rooted in service and ethical leadership.

Students in SLU's J.D./M.Acc.聽program enroll in the Richard A. Chaifetz聽School of Business the fall semester following completion of first-year core curriculum courses and complete the M.Acc.聽coursework in two sequential semesters. During each of these two semesters, students enroll in law courses relating to accounting, business and the student's career goals, taken as business school electives. Students then use the remaining three semesters to complete the J.D. program.

Accreditation

Saint Louis University's Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier business school accrediting body. Achieving AACSB accreditation ensures continuous quality improvement in the learning environment through enhancements to the curriculum, instructional resources, student selection, career planning and placement and the intellectual contributions and qualifications of the faculty.

Approximately 5% of business schools worldwide have achieved AACSB accreditation. The accounting program is also separately accredited by the AACSB, one of only 193 schools to have earned this distinction.

Saint Louis University School of Law has been continuously accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) since December 1924. The accrediting body is the Council of the Section of Legal Education and 91制片厂s to the Bar of the American Bar Association, 321 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60654, 312-988-6738.

Students who wish to enter SLU's J.D./M.Acc. program must fulfill all admission requirements for the School of Law and the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business and must apply to each program separately.

A total聽of 82 credits are completed in the School of Law; the School of Law will accept nine credit hours from the Chaifetz School of Business. The total amount of credit hours completed in the Chaifetz School of Business would be 21 credits; the Chaifetz School of Business will accept nine credit hours from the School of Law.

Continuation Standards

Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 in all graduate/professional courses.
