Higher Education Administration

Inspired by the Jesuit tradition of Catholic education, higher education administration programs at Saint Louis University center around questions of social justice. Through an interdisciplinary lens, we prepare graduate students for scholar-practitioner roles in higher education.

Explore Your Options: Degrees in Higher Education Administration

No matter which of SLU's higher education administration programs you choose, you can:

  • Enjoy small class sizes.  Most classes in the higher education administration programs have fewer than 15 students.
  • Learn through a multidisciplinary lens. Our coursework prepares scholar-practitioners to take a complex view of higher education to lead for the future.
  • Collaborate with our diverse faculty. Our professors have years of experience as scholars, student affairs leaders and academic leaders, as well as a commitment to advocacy for social justice causes on both public and private campuses.

Be Prepared for the Future

Higher education is more complex and diverse today than ever before. SLU's higher education administration programs will prepare you to be successful through three different internship options in student affairs, administration and teaching.

Our graduates are often employed in roles in student affairs, academic advising, disability services, residence life, student life and activities, admission and financial aid, and in academic affairs.

Find Your Perfect Fit

One of the few programs of its kind offered at a Jesuit, Catholic university, SLU offers degrees and certificates in higher education administration with flexible schedules, so you can find the one that works best for you.

Students in our Ph.D. program can seek the degree while holding professional positions in higher education or related fields. The certificate in disability administration can be pursued online giving you the chance to study with students from near and far, as you prepare to lead in areas serving those with diverse abilities.

Students in St. Louis can also participate in internships at one of the many local colleges and universities.
