Education
Baris received his B.A. from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1993 and his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1996.
Professional Organizations and Associations
Baris is a member of the Missouri Bar Association (MoBar). He began his legal career as an associate at the Baris Law Firm in St. Louis and later worked as a staff attorney and managing attorney at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (LSEM). He has been the Dean of Students at SLU LAW since July 2009, after serving as the Assistant Director of Career Services Office beginning in August 2005. While at SLU LAW Baris has been a member of and chair of SLU LAW and University committees.
Community Work and Service
Baris is very active in the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL) and the Missouri Bar. He served as an elected representative on the MoBar Young Lawyers Section Council for six years and has served on several other MoBar Committees. Baris served on the BAMSL Young Lawyer Division (YLD) Executive Committee for six years, including as BAMSL YLD Chairperson for the 2005-2006 bar year. Baris was on the BAMSL Board of Governors for eleven years, the BAMSL Executive Committee, has been a member of and chaired BAMSL committees, and was BAMSL President in the 2013-2014 bar year. In addition, Baris is involved in many community service projects through bar associations and other organizations, including as a big brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater St. Louis. He has served on committees of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis and the Jewish Community Center of St. Louis, and has been a member of other boards, including Washington University School of Law alumni associations, St. Louis Hillel, and Bnai Amoona Congregation.
