Professional Organizations and Associations

Professor Braun is a Member-at-Large on the executive board of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL)’s Legal Innovation & Technology special interest section. He served as Vice President, President, and Past President of the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries, from 2019 through 2022, and has served as Corresponding Secretary for the Law Librarians’ Society of Washington, D.C. (LLSDC), as Editor of Law Library Lights, LLSDC’s professional trade publication, and as Co-Chair of the AALL Council of Newsletter Editors.

Community Work and Service

Professor Braun is the Director of the Law Library and Assistant Library Professor of Law. He is responsible for the overall operation, management, and strategic planning of the Vincent C. Immel Law Library. He also teaches in the Advanced Legal Research curriculum at the School of Law.

He was previously the Senior Associate Director for Administration at the University of Illinois’ Albert E. Jenner, Jr. Memorial Law Library, responsible for management and supervision of the Law Library’s acquisitions, collection development and maintenance, technical services, and assessment initiatives. He was a Teaching Professor, Law Library, in the University of Illinois College of Law, teaching in the first-year Legal Research course and Advanced Legal Research courses on Administrative and Regulatory Law and Illinois Law.

He has also served as the Head of Electronic Resources and Special Services at the University of Iowa Law Library, where he was responsible for the selection, patron access, and promotion of electronic resources, and management of the Computing Services and Special Services departments. He was also an Adjunct Lecturer in Law in the University of Iowa College of Law, teaching advanced legal research courses in Intellectual Property Law, Administrative and Regulatory Law, and Business and Tax Research.

Professor Braun has served as a Senior Legal Research Specialist at the Law Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and was a featured instructor in the American Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education series. He was also an adjunct faculty member in The Catholic University of America's Department of Library and Information Science, where he taught the Advanced Legal Research seminar and served on the Law Librarianship Program Advisory Committee. He has also served as the Reference and Intellectual Property Librarian at The George Washington University Law School.

His writing has appeared in the Ohio State Journal on Dispute ResolutionLaw Library JournalState Practice Materials: Annotated Bibliographies, and multiple AALL section publications. He is licensed to practice law in Ohio.
