Academic Programs

Since its establishment in 1982, the Center for Health Law Studies has earned the reputation as the nation's leading health law program.

A student enrolled in health law courses works not only with unique doctrinal areas of law but also with general areas of law as applied to the largest industry in the U.S. economy and as applied to intensely personal human problems.

St. Louis is home to some of the country's leading health care centers and is a prominent location for medical and biotechnology research. The Center offers the broadest range of health law courses taught by full-time faculty, including foundational and specialized health law courses each semester. Along with a variety of academic pursuits, the Saint Louis University Journal of Health Law & Policy exposes student editors to developing and timely issues in the field. Students in the Center for Health Law Studies regularly interact with leading health care experts, academics and practitioners through the Center's programs.

In cooperation with other academic disciplines, the Center offers a full range of dual-degree, LL.M. and concentration options in health administration, health policy, public health and health care ethics. The Center for Health Law Studies provides students with the tools necessary to achieve their career goals within the field of health care law.
