2024 Academy of International Business, Southeast USA Chapter Conference Explores Diverse Markets and Innovations

The Academy of International Business, Southeast USA Chapter (AIB-SE) held its Annual Conference on Oct. 24-26, 2024, at the Chaifetz School of Business on the Saint Louis University campus.

The Academy of International Business, Southeast USA Chapter (AIB-SE) held its annual conference and welcomed over 180 attendees from 28 different countries from around the world in academia and industry.

Hosted by the Boeing Institute of International Business and partnered with corporate host, Maritz, the conference welcomed over 180 attendees from 28 different countries from around the world in academia and industry.

Conference attendees were treated to a keynote presentation from AIB President, Gary Knight, Ph.D., an executive keynote presentation featuring President and CEO of Maritz, David Peckinpaugh, and numerous other panels and research presentations centered toward the conference theme 鈥 Global Business Unbounded: Navigating Diverse Markets and Innovations.

Wendy Ritz, 2024 AIB-SE Conference Chair enjoyed the conference. 

"The academic conference on the stunning Saint Louis University campus was a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of being physically present for connecting and networking," Ritz said. "The attendees continue to post online about the campus鈥 beauty and a sense of security while exploring the city's treasures鈥攆rom the majestic Arch to the serene Forest Park and impressive Saint Louis Zoo. Together, we not only shared knowledge but also created lasting memories in a truly vibrant environment."

Over 50 X-Culture students were also in attendance. X-Culture is an international educational program that helps students and professionals learn about business and other cultures through real-world experience. This year鈥檚 X-Culture students represented international teams that competed to solve a case created in collaboration by Maritz and X-Culture faculty. 

Hadi Alhorr, Ph.D., director of the Boeing Institute of International Business called the conference a success.

"One of the university鈥檚 strategic goals is to ensure that our academic and professional programs have a global perspective.  More specifically, the Boeing Institute of International Business, since its inception in 1984, has focused on academic and corporate outreach programs centered around international business issues. We would like to be perceived as a robust catalyst for international business research and we strive to be part of a larger community, such as the Academy of International Business, that is actively deciphering through the complexities of global business. Hence, hosting the AIB-SE conference on our campus was organic as it is aligned with our mission and brings us closer to this community.鈥

About the Academy of International Business, Southeast USA Chapter

The Academy of International Business, Southeast USA Chapter (AIB-SE) is an active organization which holds an annual conference consisting of competitive and interactive research papers, expert panels, consortia for doctoral students and early career faculty, workshops on teaching and research, meet-the-editor sessions, networking opportunities, and more/ The AIB-SE鈥檚 annual conference takes place over a long weekend between mid-October to early November. The location of the conference is in the chapter鈥檚 designated region, which includes the southeastern United States, but also extends as far west as Texas. Conference attendees come from around the world with participants coming from higher education institutions from North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and Africa.
