Interprofessional Education Program Hosting Poster Symposium
211/04/2024
The Interprofessional Education Program at Saint Louis University is hosting its biannual poster symposium from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, in the foyer of the Education Union.
An essential element of interprofessional education is to provide health care students with practical experiences to better understand how to address community health needs. The purpose of the Interprofessional Community Practicum Course is to provide students with the opportunity to work as an interprofessional team in a community setting to support agency-identified goals.
The IPE program has more 20 local community partners supporting individuals and communities across the lifespan. Teams of students representing at least two different healthcare professions are paired with a local non-profit organization from the St. Louis community. Our non-profit partners identify a health or wellness goal and the student teams develop a project to address this agency-identified need.
At the Dec. 3 poster symposium, more than 100 students from athletic training, nursing, occupational therapy, and physical therapy will provide an overview of their collaborative health and wellness projects and share more about their experiences with interprofessional teamwork in a community setting.
