The Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies and the Crusade Studies Forum at Saint Louis University successfully hosted the Fifth Quadrennial Symposium on Crusade Studies from October 3-5, 2024, at SLU’s Madrid campus.
Dedicated to advancing scholarly investigation into the Crusades and the Latin East, the symposium brought together more than 100 scholars from around the world to discuss and share insights across more than 80 presentations.
Keynote speakers included Thomas Asbridge of the University of London and Helen Nicholson of Cardiff University, who provided perspectives on crusading history. A visit to the historic city of Segovia offered attendees a chance to explore Spain’s medieval heritage, adding an immersive experience to the conference's intellectual rigor.
The symposium was designed to underscore Saint Louis University’s role as a global leader in medieval studies and foster valuable dialogue and connections within the academic community.
