Canvas at SLU
Canvas is the Learning Management System available to the Saint Louis University community at both the St. Louis, Missouri and Madrid, Spain campuses.
Canvas provides an online space for instructors to share course content, manage student work, and access tools that can support activities such as group work, class discussions, and student projects. Canvas also features Ally, a tool that allows students and instructors to make course materials more accessible.
Types of Courses in Canvas
Access your courses by clicking on the Canvas icon on the Tools tab of mySLU. Depending on your role at SLU and course enrollments, you may see two kinds of courses in Canvas:

- Courses not in Banner: Departments, programs, and instructors may have a need for a course or organization in Canvas that is not tied to a course in Banner. These courses can be used for course development, department/program orientation content, or other academic purposes. Faculty and staff can request a non-Banner course in Canvas by The request will be evaluated by the Provost's Office and if approved, the course will be added to Canvas.
