Mission and Values

The mission of the Saint Louis University School of Medicine is the pursuit of excellence in education, research, clinical care and community engagement through professional development, collaboration and social justice.

Facilities and Affiliated Hospitals

Saint Louis University conducts medical training at the SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, a 365-bed tertiary care facility and Level I trauma center. Other affiliated institutions include SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Mercy Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, St. Anthony's Medical Center, and the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. A portion of electives may be taken at other academic and clinical institutions.

Medical Scholar Program

The Medical Scholar Program at Saint Louis University is an exclusive opportunity for first-time freshmen who plan to attend medical school. Certain programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, Doisy College of Health Sciences, School and Science and Engineering and the College of Public Health and Social Justice are approved for Medical Scholars.

If a student meets the program requirements, including maintaining a 3.65 cumulative and math/science GPA, they can apply early to the SLU School of Medicine.
