Biomedical Engineering, Minor
Saint Louis University's minor in biomedical engineering allows students to see how the biological and medical sciences can intersect with engineering to improve patient quality of life.
Students minoring in biomedical engineering at SLU also have an opportunity to see firsthand how interdisciplinary the field is and the role that their primary major can play in the development of medical technologies. In addition, the minor provides occupational awareness to students who may not know how medical technologies are created or what job opportunities are available in the field.

To initiate a minor in biomedical engineering, a student must file a "Minor in BME" plan with the Department of Biomedical Engineering after meeting with a biomedical engineering faculty member to discuss the minor courses and their prerequisites. The "Minor in BME" form serves as a planning tool and will be on file in the biomedical engineering department and with the student's academic advisor in the major area. The completion of a minor in biomedical engineering must be certified by the chair or the biomedical engineering program coordinator as part of the graduation check.
Continuation Standards
- The grades in all biomedical engineering minor courses must be "C-" or better. Â
- Students must maintain a minimum 2.00 GPA.
