Business Student Organizations Policies & Procedures
The policies and procedures below govern student clubs at Saint Louis University's Chaifetz School of Business student clubs and are meant to provide additional guidance and resources to SLU student leaders.
Alcohol Policy
No alcohol can be served at any Chaifetz School student club event. If your club’s name is attached to an event, your club is responsible for enforcing this rule.
CSO Student Handbook and Resources
All student organizations, including business clubs, are expected to follow the rules outlined in the . Deviation from these rules can result in a hearing through the Office of Student Responsibility and Community Standards and possible club deactivation. SLU offers student organization resources to assist in planning and facilitating programs/events for your student organizations.
Business School Announcements
The Dean’s Student Advisory Board (DSAB) publishes a biweekly newsletter sent to all business students. Submit your club announcements and/or articles via email to dsab@slu.edu. DSAB will also contact business clubs and organizations with a separate link to submit event information. If you did not receive the link, contact DSAB at dsab@slu.edu.
Clubs and organizations may promote events on the business school calendar and post announcements on the television screen in the Chaifetz School Atrium by emailing the Marketing and Communications Office at csbmarketing@slu.edu. Submit your request at least two weeks in advance of your event.
Announcement Guidelines
- Slides are on-screen for 15 seconds, so please be concise.
- Create your announcement as a 16:9 PowerPoint. In PowerPoint, you can easily format to this size by going to DESIGN > SLIDE SIZE (top right corner) > WIDESCREEN 16:9. Once you are done creating your slide, save it as a PDF and send the PDF to the Marketing and Communications Office at csbmarketing@slu.edu - (pwt or Word doc not accepted).
- Limit slides to one per event.
- Follow SLU branding when creating TV slides if your student organization doesn't have specific branding. Visit SLU Marketing for detailed information on SLU fonts, colors and logo best practices.
Beverage Cart / Speaker Gifts / Guest Parking Pass
Business School Clubs and Organizations may request a beverage cart, small gifts for guest speakers and parking passes for guest speakers using the . The business club or business organizational meeting must be held in the business school building. The request must be submitted at least 24 hours before the meeting.
A club member must pick up the cart from Davis-Shaughnessy Hall (DSH) Room 473 (Technology Service Center). Please note the hours of operation may vary. Plan to pick up your cart during normal business hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Should the office be closed during normal business hours, check with the dean’s office for access.
A club member must return the cart to DSH 473 immediately following the meeting. If DS 473 is closed, leave the cart right outside the door.
Student Organizations Leadership Suite
Student clubs and organizations may reserve the conference room in the Student Organizations Leadership Suite (Cook Hall Room 124) for executive board meetings by emailing Ben Smyth at ben.smyth@slu.edu.
This space will accommodate up to nine people. It is not large enough to host regular club meetings. See Reserving a Room for help in scheduling club meetings.
Club and organization presidents will be granted card access to open the door to the suite with their student ID.
Copy and Printing Policy
Business school clubs and organizations may request up to 50 copies of 8.5” x 11” flyers by emailing edith.brown@slu.edu.
Submit flyers as a pdf at least one day in advance.
For larger size items or larger quantities: chartered student organization or developing student organization representatives who wish to make copies of flyers, signs, and handouts must provide a fund number to the IMC in Pius Library (first floor) to print. If the chartered student organization or developing student organization does not know its fund number, please stop by Student Involvement (BSC 319) or email involvement@slu.edu.
