Move-In FAQ

Find answers to your frequently asked about moving into Saint Louis University residence halls this fall.

Move-In Timing

When is move-in?
New student move in for fall 2023 will be August 17-18. Returning student move in will be August 20. Time blocks and dates will be assigned for both new and returning students. 
What is my move-in time? 

Your building and floor will determine your assigned move-in day and time. Times will be updated by July 10 when new student assignments are released.

What if I can't make it during my assigned move-in time?
 If you  need a different day, there will be a form included in your assignment email that can be completed to request an earlier move in date. 

Will students in learning communities and the Honors Program move in early?
Learning Community students will move in on August 17. 
When will students receive a parking pass for move-in?

Parking passes will be available for download when first year assignments are released. Only new students moving in August 17-18  will need a parking pass.

Move-In Assistance

How many people can help me move-in?
While we don't have a limit on move in helpers, we ask that you be mindful of the other people on campus and the traffic within the buildings.  
Will carts be available to transport items during move-in?
Carts will still be available to assist with the move-in process at each residence hall, but there may be a wait to use them during the move in times.
Will Oriflamme be available to assist during move-in and Fall Welcome?

Oriflamme (Fall Orientation Leaders) will be present to assist with new student move-in.

Oriflamme Leaders will continue to support new students in their transition to SLU by leading them through our Fall Welcome program. 

Will families be able to stay beyond the two-hour time slot to help their students move in?

Yes, the two hour time block is specifically regarding the check in process to help control the traffic in the garages and around campus. Once checked in, you may take your time moving into your space. 


Other FAQ

Can we use the stairs during move-in?
Yes, stairs can be a quicker method than waiting for an elevator. 
When will students receive their SLU IDs?
Students receive their ID at their SLU 101 session if they followed the appropriate steps.  Students must have a student ID before entering the check-in process.  Students can get their ID from Parking and Card Services located in The Wool Center. 
Will dining options be open during move-in?
The campus meal plan will coincide with  new student move-in day. Additional options may be available earlier and will be shared through .
