Saint Louis University provides a variety of options for connecting to the internet on campus. These connections allow faculty, staff and students to access the internet from both wired and wireless connections.
SLU Wireless
SLU's wireless network is available to all students, faculty and staff on campus and can be accessed by authenticated users. The wireless connection acts like an umbrella over most areas of the campus and provides instant access to anyone under it. Wireless is available in most areas of campus, including many outdoor areas.
The only necessary equipment needed to connect to the network is a mobile device, laptop or desktop computer that supports wireless functions, and a SLU username and password.
Follow the configuration instructions for your operating system. When you reach the Enter Credentials screen, sign in using your SLU Net ID and password.
Most laptop computers, especially newer ones, come with an internal wireless network card installed. If your laptop does not have wireless capabilities pre-installed, you can purchase an external wireless card from most major electronic retailers. ITS recommends that you purchase a high-quality 802.11N wireless card.
If you have a question about whether your wireless card is compatible with the Billiken Wireless network, contact the ITS Service Desk at 314-977-4000 or visit a Tech Services Center location or email ask@slu.edu.
Residence Halls ResNet
Before students can access the Resident Network in their residence halls, they must register their devices to the network at . You can register your device off-campus before the August move-in. Note that while video game consoles are allowed in SLU residence halls, they are not allowed on the wireless network.
If your room does not have enough wall jacks to connect, you may borrow a mini hub for the duration of the academic year from the Tech Services Center. There is a $10 rental fee to borrow the hub and rentals can be completed through . The hub must be returned at the end of the school year or you will be charged $150.
