What is a Billiken?
Colleges and universities across the United States have their own mascots, which are symbols of good luck for sports teams and an ambassador of goodwill for the school. The term "Billiken" refers not only to SLU's blue and white mascot, it is also used informally to refer to any SLU student.
To be a Billiken means embracing the entire Saint Louis University experience. You will not only be a student but a member of the University community. You will be a volunteer, a collaborator and a leader. You will be prepared and professional. Most of all, you will be yourself: unique.
