Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry at SLU-Madrid offers opportunities to cultivate an informed faith, commit to social justice, and integrate faith into our daily lives. Guided by the Catholic Church and the Society of Jesus, SLU-Madrid welcomes and serves students of all religious backgrounds and traditions.

Students line up in an outdoor area while a priest marks a student's forehead. A choir of students stands nearby holding black choir books and singing.

Campus Activities

If you are interested in learning more about opportunities to volunteer with Campus Ministry, please contact us at campusministry-madrid@slu.edu

Mission Week

Mission Week takes place in early October. The SLU-Madrid community reflects on the University's mission and how students, faculty and staff work to be "men and women for others."

Jesuit Heritage Week

The University examines our Jesuit heritage and the legacy of the Jesuits worldwide at Jesuit Heritage Week, which is held in mid-March.

Christian Life Community

These reflection groups offer close and supportive relationships among members who wish to talk about being a person of faith in today's world. Meetings are held once a week. Through prayer and faith-sharing, participants discern the desires of their hearts and develop a fitting response to God's call to live as Christ lived.

Spiritual Counseling

If you ever need to talk, receive spiritual counseling or receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, contact James O'Leary, S.J., james.oleary@slu.edu or visit him in the Office of the Chaplain in Padre Rubio Hall.

Campus Religious Services

Catholic Mass is celebrated at 6 p.m. on Sundays in the Student Lounge in San Ignacio Hall. Services are also held at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays in Saint Timothy's Chapel in Padre Rubio Hall.

There are no religious services on campus during the summer.

Off-Campus Activities

Are you interested in finding a parish? Not Catholic, but looking for a place of worship around Madrid? If so, Campus Ministry maintains a list of places of worship throughout Madrid. Can't find your faith on the list? Stop by the Campus Ministry offices, and we'll help you find your spiritual home away from home.

The Loyola Retreat

The Loyola Retreat is a pilgrimage to the Basque Country. This trip provides an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the founder of the Society of Jesus, Ignatius of Loyola, and Ignatian spirituality. It is more than just a trip to see the Basque Country or to learn about the Jesuits. It is a time to reflect on one's life, to grow spiritually, and to rest and recharge the body, mind and soul.
