Longitudinal Underserved Community Curriculum

advocacy day

The Saint Louis University Family Medicine Residency developed the Longitudinal Underserved Community Curriculum to prepare you for community-oriented primary care through focused study of community issues through the three years of residency.

  • PGY1: During the first month of residency, which is an ambulatory skills month, you will be introduced to our health center and community, including intimate partner violence simulation, neighborhood windshield survey and experiences with our staff.
  • PGY2: Each month, you will spend a day in Community Health Seminars led by the family physicians, pediatricians and behavioral health professionals at Family Care Health Centers.
  • PGY1-3: Monthly community-focused lectures in social determinants of health and cultural competency.

This model curriculum was developed through funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration and has been shared with residency programs across the country.
