Research Resources for Faculty

Research, scholarship, and creative activities are essential means through which SLU fulfills its mission. As with teaching, the University provides many resources to support faculty in their pursuit of new knowledge. Below you will find information about campus resources that can support you in your work as a researcher and scholar.

Faculty Research Leave Program

The Faculty Research Leave Program provides alternative leave opportunities to faculty who can profit from devoting uninterrupted time to research. The program is designed to augment the University鈥檚 sabbatical and other leave programs. Click here for details.

Office of the Vice President for Research

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) exists to support faculty in achieving their research and scholarly ambitions. Through the OVPR, faculty may get assistance with a range of activities, from identifying possible funding agencies to preparing grant proposals to managing awards. Mellon Faculty Development Grants

Mellon Faculty Development Grants provide support for faculty working on humanities and humanistic projects. Grants may support publishing, exhibitions, performances, teaching development, professional enrichment, and (inter)departmental development.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Faculty engaged in research and scholarship involving human subjects (including educational research on classroom practices) must work with SLU鈥檚 Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure that all research is conducted in compliance with regulations, laws, and University policies protecting the rights and welfare of human research volunteers. Internal Research Awards

A number of competitive internal research grants exist to support faculty research and scholarly activities, including Spark microgrants, the Beaumont Faculty Development Fund, and the President鈥檚 Research Fund.
