Leadership for Social Change Learning Community

If you are interested in becoming a leader and making a difference in the world, the Leadership for Social Change Learning Community is the perfect way to start off your Saint Louis University experience. Located in SLU's Spring Hall, this community will challenge you to learn about social advocacy through relationship building, creative action and the social sciences.

Why Choose the Leadership and Social Change Learning Community?

You will learn to identify, critique and innovatively address underlying issues within community structures as a result of this learning community experience. This community is a great way to build significant connections, meet passionate faculty and become active in the city of St. Louis. This community is open to all students. 

SLU's Leadership and Social Change Learning Community is recommended for aspiring student leaders of all majors and specifically geared toward students majoring in English, philosophy, theology, theatre, music, art history, studio art, foreign language, education, psychology, sociology, anthropology, and other programs in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Faculty Associates

Jessica Trout, M.S.W., is the assistant director for advocacy and civic engagement in the SLU Center for Social Action. Jessica graduated from Saint Louis University as a first-generation college student with a bachelor's degree in social work and international studies. After graduating, she moved to the Federated States of Micronesia to teach high school for two years. In 2013, she completed her Master of Social Work degree at Columbia University in New York City, with an emphasis in social policy. During her studies in New York, she worked with the Voices of Women Organizing Project, a community-organizing nonprofit working with survivors of domestic violence. After six months in Central America during college, and various trips back to the region, as well as time along the US-Mexico border, Jessica has a passion for immigration policy. 

Luella Loseille, M.Ed., is the assistant director for diversity and inclusion in the Cross Cultural Center for Global Citizenship and the Atlas Program Coordinator. Born and raised in St. Louis from a Haitian family background, Luella attended Saint Louis University for both her undergraduate degree (Anthropology, 2017), graduate degree (Student Personnel Administration, 2019) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration. She was also recognized as a Saint Louis University 2022 Woman of the Year alongside five other amazing women on campus. Luella is an avid anime, manga, video game, and BTS fan, and enjoys reading fantasy books.
